Eclipse GPS Unit in the 08 Escape
This was such a pain in the A$$.
-The truck is so new that no one makes a dash kit or a harness for it yet.
-The Antenna is some kind of new plug and there is no adapter for it yet.
-No key on power on the factory harness
-No illumination (that the eclipse unit needs to dimmer)
-The factory ford GPS is a much bigger in size than the Eclipse unit.
Well it took some time and a lot of cutting but here it is all done now. I bought the ford Dash trim for one with a GPS (2 week back order because it was a new part). Swaped AC controls over to new trim. Then I bought a big sheet of ABS Plastic and cut out a back drop because the Ford hole was so big. Made mine own set of hangers to work of the bolts the hold the trim. Used AC form to go around the gaps inside so light doesnt show.
Used an 05 Harness to get the speaker wires with out cutting the factory one. Got key on power from the AC controls, and Illumination right from the head light switch. And a speed signal right off the CPU pin 4 on the 3 plug.
The way I did this everything can be put right back to stock because I used the ford GPS trim and still have the stock one to go back in.
